In the supply chain world, one constant is change. That means flexibility and resourcefulness aren’t optional but, rather, they must be built into the way we operate. This sentiment is especially relevant in North Europe today, where three powerful forces are reshaping retail supply chains. Demand is volatile, which makes short planning cycles more valuable than long forecasts. Risk has become a central part of the cost base: leaders now weigh not just price, but exposure to strikes, storms, cyber threats and tariffs. And sustainability has shifted from aspiration to expectation, with regulators and customers alike demanding verifiable progress. These forces are shaping feedback from retailers and FMCG leaders across the region. The mood is cautiously optimistic about the broader economic outlook, but consumer expectations on value, speed, convenience, service reliability and lower-carbon choices are higher than ever. This is not an environment that rewards those who sit on their hands. It rewards those who can design networks where speed, resilience and sustainability reinforce one another rather than compete.
