The AICC Huanghu, the first 7,000 CEU LNG dual-fuel ro-ro (roll-on/roll-off) ship built by Anhui Hangrui International Ro/Ro Transportation Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Anhui Provincial Port & Shipping Group Co., Ltd, successfully completed its maiden voyage through the Suez Canal on February 16. This marked the opening of the LNG dual-fuel car carrier’s voyage on the China-Europe shipping route. Departing from Shanghai, the vessel passed through the Suez Canal in Egypt on its way to the port of Derince in Turkey. By choosing this route, the vessel shortened its journey by approximately 45 percent and reduced sailing time by 18 days. According to the captain, the decision to pass through the Suez Canal rather than the Cape of Good Hope was influenced not only by the shorter distance but also by more favorable weather conditions.
