Ansteel released a self-developed 690-megapascal cryogenic steel for liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2) carriers cargo tank on March 3 in Dalian, Northeast China's Liaoning Province. The steel will be used for construction of the world's first two LCO2 carriers with the largest carrying capacity of 7,500 cubic meters each. The steel has obtained the world's first Classification Society Certification for CO2 carrier-dedicated 690-MPa cryogenic steel and passed application performance assessment. It is expected to be the first time that cryogenic steel has been put to practical use. (....)
