Budapest was awarded the European Mobility Week Award in a ceremony in Brussels last night, while online platform Nudgd won the Mobility Action award. Both awards reward activities conducted in 2023. The jury selected the City of Budapest for its car-free weekend, which counted 10,000 participants, and Car-Free Day on 22 September 2023. The latter coincided with the unveiling of plans for a new pedestrian area along the Danube. In close cooperation with the City of Vienna, Budapest also hosted a public event to promote best practice in walking and cycling policies. (....)
