Pressemitteilung: Commercial flights in September 1.8% below 2019 level

In September 2025, there were 653 072 commercial flights in the EU. This marked a 2.6% increase when compared with the flight count in September 2024. However, the number remained 1.8% lower than the flight count for the same month in 2019.
The same trend was visible throughout June – August. All months saw an increase compared with 2024: June (2.8%), July (2.9%) and August (3.3%). While the figures were still below those from the 2019 pre-pandemic levels, however they were getting close to the pre-pandemic levels: June (-2.1%), July (-1.7%) and August (-0.3%).
This information comes from monthly flight data on commercial flights published by Eurostat today.

Looking at the latest country data for September 2025, 12 countries exceeded their flight counts compared with 2019. Cyprus (+24.1%), Poland (+22.4%) and Greece (+21.4%) surpassed their 2019 figures the most and saw a significant increase in the number of commercial flights. By contrast, Latvia (-29.8%), Sweden (-27.3%) and Finland (-23.9%) are still far from the 2019 figures. (....)
