Pressemitteilung: Commercial flights in the EU reach 6.9 million in 2025
In 2025, 6.9 million commercial flights were recorded in the EU, an increase of 3.8% compared with 2024 (6.7 million). The number of flights has risen continuously since 2021 and, by 2025, had returned to a level similar to the pre-pandemic figure of 7.0 million recorded in 2019. Non-scheduled commercial flights (charter flights and other special flights) constituted 8.5% of all flights in 2025. The summer months – June (648 707 total flights), July (690 855), and August (693 046) – recorded the highest number of non-scheduled flights (11.2%, 12.3%, and 11.4%, respectively). Schiphol in Amsterdam: top airport for commercial flights The highest count of commercial flights (scheduled and non-scheduled) in 2025 was recorded in Amsterdam Schiphol airport in the Netherlands, with 488 000 flights. It was followed by Paris-Charles de Gaulle (476 000) in France and Frankfurt/Main (457 000) in Germany. (....)
