Today’s implementation dialogue on high-speed rail, hosted by Commissioner Tzitzikostas, will focus on improving EU rail connectivity. Linking Member States by efficient train services is essential to bring the EU closer together. It also advances the decarbonisation of the transport sector and fosters competitiveness, cohesion, and business productivity. The fragmentation of the TEN-T high-speed rail network along national borders however persists. The meeting, taking place in Brussels, will gather key European industry leaders, social partners, and stakeholders. During the dialogue , participants will discuss the timely implementation of infrastructure projects and passenger services, such as barriers to booking and selling tickets. They will also exchange on how to ensure the competitiveness of the industry. The discussion will inform the Commission’s work on the upcoming action plan on high-speed rail. (....)
