Vehicles mainly used for container transport The German transport company Contargo has put 33 electric XD 350 FT 4x2 tractor units into service. The vehicles will be used, among other things, for transporting containers between Contargo’s 25 container terminals in Germany, France, and Switzerland. The Mannheim‑based company has been working with DAF for many years in the field of zero‑emission logistics. In 2019, Contargo was one of the first German transport companies to put two fully electric DAF CF trucks into operation, and subsequently expanded this number. With the delivery of 33 DAF XD Electrics – together with the XF Electric named ‘International Truck of the Year 2026’ – Contargo now operates a fleet of nearly 100 fully electric trucks. ‘Scaling up’ Contargo aims to be fully CO₂‑neutral by 2045. Michael Starke, Managing Director of Contargo Truck Fleet GmbH & Co. KG, said: “The handover of the 33 DAF Electric trucks is an important step for us in further expanding zero‑emission transport. The XD Electric shows how sustainability, safety, and efficiency can be perfectly combined with great driver comfort.” (....)
