Week 5 saw traffic gently rise 0.6% across the European aviation network, totalling 22,714 average daily flights. That was 7% more than last year, and 89% of pre-pandemic. Almost all top 10 States, airlines & airports were busier, with 82.8% of flights landing on time – up on 80.3% in Week 4. 17,291 of those average daily flights were intra-European, overall +1% vs Week 4, while the most increased flow as a percentage was traffic to/from the Middle East, up 4% on Week 4 (1,229 daily flights). Among Europe’s top airports, the top three of iGA Istanbul, London Heathrow and Amsterdam Schiphol stayed in that order, but AMS did record the largest week-on-week increase of 6% with 1,180 daily flights. Just behind, however, Madrid Barajas (1,027 daily flights and +1%) rose to 4th ahead of Frankfurt Rhein Main Airport (1,015 daily flights and -1%). (....)
