Pressemitteilung: Girteka undertakes one of the largest scale digital transformations in the region to date

Having kicked off its digital transformation journey in 2020, the group is seeking to put in place a centralized, data-based, and effective business management system. According to Martynas Sarapinas, Chief Transformation Officer at Girteka Group, the digitalization of its processes is not just a matter of IT, but a company-wide marathon: nearly all employees, from drivers to executives, should get ready for long-distance “running” and have clearly defined goals.
In the past five years, the company has already managed to realize about 80% of its ambitious goals for its transformation. In terms of scale, this constitutes one of the largest digitalization projects in the Baltics so far, with total investment projected to reach about €120 million by 2028.
What motivated Girteka to start digitizing its business processes back in 2020?
Within a few decades Girteka had become the largest and most successful logistics company in Europe. This was well before the current transformation project began. Our shareholders realized that maintaining our growth and competitiveness would require an operational rethink. Admittedly, prior to the 2008 economic crisis, European transport and logistics businesses were lagging behind in terms of technological development. More substantial changes took place after 2015, when banks, as well as e-commerce and insurance companies digitized their processes and the market entered a more mature stage of transformation.
