Pressemitteilung: Global Ro-Ro Community Launches Member-Led Council to Advance Emissions Accounting and Decarbonisation Efforts

Amsterdam, 19 August 2026 — Leading Ro-Ro operators participating in the Global Ro-Ro Community (GRC) have collectively developed a harmonised approach to greenhouse gas emissions accounting, and are now taking greater ownership of its future through a newly established, member-led GRC Council.
The Global Ro-Ro Community at Smart Freight Week 2026.
An initiative of Smart Freight Centre (SFC), the GRC brings together carriers, independent verifiers, cargo owners, and other stakeholders to improve the accuracy, transparency, and comparability of emissions reporting across the Ro-Ro sector. The initiative includes deep-sea and short-sea Ro-Ro operators collectively representing nearly 80% of global car equivalent unit (CEU) capacity, giving the GRC the scale needed to develop representative industry benchmarks and credible emissions data.
