Pressemitteilung: HES INTERNATIONAL LAUNCHES OPEN SEASON FOR CO2 EXPORT TERMINALS IN WILHELMSHAVEN AND ROTTERDAM
March 31, 2026 - HES International (HES) is proud to launch an Open Season for liquid CO₂ handling at two of Europe's most strategically positioned deepwater terminals: the Wilhelmshaven Tank Terminal in Germany and the Rotterdam Bulk Terminal in the Netherlands. These terminals will be purpose-built to close the critical missing link in Europe's carbon value chain — connecting onshore emitters directly to offshore permanent storage under the North Sea. With operations targeted from 2029, HES is moving now to give customers certainty, capacity, and a clear path to decarbonization. HES’ value proposition is unique, offering optionality for customers, the ability to start small and scale over time and the flexibility to access carbon stores of choice in the North Sea. Combined, the two terminals are designed to scale to handle up to 20 million tonnes of CO₂ per year, supporting the climate ambitions of the EU, the Netherlands, and Germany. The first phase of each terminal represents an investment of approximately €180 million, sized to customer demand and scalable as the market grows. (....)
