Pressemitteilung: Hitachi Rail and CFR SA to modernize Romania National Railway infrastructure with signalling and telecommunications solutions

Bucharest, Romania, August 11, 2026 - Hitachi Rail announces the achievement of two major milestones in the modernization of Romania’s railway infrastructure through the implementation and commissioning of advanced signalling solutions at the Ciulnița and Fetești railway stations. These projects were carried out for the National Railway Company CFR SA, the administrator of Romania’s public railway infrastructure.
Located on the European TEN-T Corridor 22 (Pan-European Corridor IV), the Ciulnița and Fetești stations play a strategic role in ensuring connectivity between Central and Eastern Europe along the Nürnberg – Prague – Vienna – Budapest – Curtici – Simeria – Brașov – Bucharest – Constanța route. The modernization project included complex railway infrastructure and superstructure rehabilitation works, civil engineering activities, upgrades to the power supply and overhead contact line systems, as well as the deployment of telecommunications solutions, including video surveillance, passenger information and public announcement systems.
