Hydrogen is increasingly recognised as a vital solution for decarbonising transport, especially in sectors where battery-electric alternatives have limitations. A prime example of this shift is EVARM, a Catalan company advancing hydrogen fuel cell technology for heavy-duty vehicles. During a recent visit to EVARM’s facilities in Sant Fost de Campsentelles, Pol Gibert, the Secretary General for Business and Labour of the Government of Catalonia, commended the company’s innovative work. Central to their efforts is the HERO project, which aims to convert diesel minibuses into zero-emission, hydrogen-powered vehicles, showcasing how technology can provide cleaner alternatives for public transport. Hydrogen-powered vehicles offer significant advantages, particularly for larger fleets that need quick refuelling and extended range. This makes them particularly suitable for logistics and regional transport sectors, which can be challenging to electrify.
