For a leader in Travel Retail, ID Logistics has deployed a new motorized assistance system for order picking. This innovative solution aims to improve the ergonomics of operators while optimizing productivity.
A SOLUTION COMBINING ERGONOMICS AND PRODUCTIVITY
In 2023, ID Logistics and its client initiated an optimization of the flow of detailed order preparation at its Île-de-France site. ID Logistics has designed new picking trolleys with 6 locations (compared to 4 previously), increasing the volume handled per round and increasing operational efficiency. ID Logistics has chosen to equip these trolleys with Drive Assist, a motorized system. The device, which is added to the trolley at the end of its manufacture, accompanies the traction and automatically adapts to the pressure exerted by the picker on the handle during pushing. The built-in battery lasts for several days and is easy to use.
A PROJECT CO-CONSTRUCTED WITH THE TEAMS ON SITE
The success of the initiative is based on a co-construction approach. A Lean project brought together a dozen employees with various profiles within the warehouse – team leaders, experienced pickers and new entrants, stock and safety managers – to test and adjust the solution. Their feedback has made it possible to optimise the speed, braking and ergonomics of the device. This approach has encouraged the support of the teams and guaranteed a rapid appropriation of Drive Assist. (....)
