With Infios, Deutsche Telekom relies on automated, robot-assisted processes for small storage processing at the distribution center in Hanover, Germany. Infios today announced the successful implementation of a robotics picking solution at Deutsche Telekom. This is the first use of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) to serve Telekom’s B2B hardware service business located in Hanover, which improves both the efficiency and scalability of its logistics operations. Infios, as general contractor, was responsible for a combined software and automation approach focusing on the integration of a Geekplus P1200 shelf-to-person Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) system at the Hanover site. Based on the goods-to-person principle, the robots take over the automated transportation of shelves weighing up to 1,200 kg to the respective work and pick stations. In the in- and outbound areas, walking routes could be reduced significantly, while the remaining manual areas are supported by put and pick-by-light systems to ensure improvements in efficiency and a reduction of error rates. Starting with the integrated interplay of 30 inbound and 80 outbound items per hour, the system performance can be scaled to meet future requirements through the addition of AMRs and workstations on demand.
