IRU, the world road transport organisation, has published its 2025 annual report, outlining key achievements in driving safe, efficient and sustainable road transport across the globe.
Following member approval of the organisation’s 2025 financial accounts today at its General Assembly, the IRU annual report is now available online.
The report highlights notable outcomes – in terms of advocacy, the TIR system, certification and standards, intelligence and events – globally and across seven strategic regions.
The central theme of this year’s report is “opportunity”, as underlined by IRU President Radu Dinescu in his foreword:
“Following a 2024 that showcased road transport’s resilience, new opportunities emerged in 2025.
“From new road transport sector reform guidelines to TIR expansion and practical progress on decarbonisation, IRU turned industry priorities into concrete results in 2025.
“To end on the opportunities ahead, Brazil became the 79th contracting party to the UN TIR Convention in December 2025.”
IRU’s 2025 milestones
Key 2025 milestones across IRU’s vision of connecting societies with safe, efficient and green mobility and logistics include:
Safe
• Published a new road transport sector reform guide – together with the World Bank – for governments, public authorities and practitioners
• Co-led EU-level work on city coach access, ensuring that operational needs are reflected in urban mobility policy and planning
• Finalised the first phase of the EU-funded Skilled Driver Mobility for Europe project, turning policy analysis into safe and regulated driver mobility schemes (....)
