By combining Eurostat data with other, international sources, this publication offers a comprehensive statistical portrait of the EU’s role on the world stage. Did you know that with 448 million inhabitants, the EU made up 5.5% of the global population in 2023? Or that the EU accounted for 14.7% of global GDP, ranking third after China and the United States? Would you have guessed that the EU accounted for a 6.7% share of the 2022 world’s greenhouse gas emissions?
