Pressemitteilung: Kuehne+Nagel, LATAM Cargo, and The Elite Flower carry out their largest SAF operation yet in Latin America
• For the third year, a joint initiative is reducing emissions from Valentine’s Day flower shipments on the Bogota–Miami route • +130,000 litres of SAF which covers the fuel consumption of eight B767 cargo flights on that route Recognising the importance of reducing emissions in international trade, Kuehne+Nagel, LATAM Cargo, and The Elite Flower have carried out their largest SAF-based operation to date in Latin America, reducing about 300 tonnes of CO₂e linked to the transportation of more than 495 tonnes of flowers (about 10 million stems). The initiative reduced CO₂e associated with exporting Colombian flowers from Bogota to Miami for Valentine’s Day, one of the floriculture industry’s most important seasons, by using Book and Claim for SAF. “Collaborating with our partners generates and drives positive and innovative changes in important industries like perishables and air logistics, where reducing carbon emissions is essential. We are proud of the continued commitment to expand this initiative year after year and to inspire more stakeholders in Latin America and globally to continue advancing decarbonisation initiatives in our supply chains through Book and Claim methodology,” explains Ana San Carlos, Sustainability Manager for Latin America at Kuehne+Nagel.
