Pressemitteilung: MMMA's Cumulative Women Cadet Enrollment Surpasses 100, Reaching a Record Since Its Founding
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Jotaro Tamura, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) today announced that MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy (MMMA), a merchant maritime academy jointly operated by MOL and Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC Note 1) in Manila, the Philippines, has welcomed 208 cadets: Deck 103/Engine 105 (Women Deck 17/ Engine 14) for Academic Year 2026. The academy recorded its highest-ever number of newly enrolled women cadets, bringing the cumulative number of women cadets admitted to MMMA since its establishment to more than 100. This milestone reflects MMMA's continued commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in maritime education and providing opportunities for talented young people regardless of gender in a field that has traditionally been male-dominated. The proportion of women among newly enrolled cadets has steadily increased over the years, and the number of women cadets has grown to around five times that of the inaugural class, demonstrating the effectiveness of MMMA's efforts to encourage more women to engage in maritime careers and expand opportunities for them in the maritime industry.
