A freight train loaded with auto parts set out from Qingdao City, East China’s Shandong Province, for Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. The shipment originated in Mexico, traveled by sea to China, and is now being transported by rail through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan. Spanning about 21,800 kilometers, the route developed and operated by China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited (COSCO SHIPPING) has successfully established a seamless factory-to-factory logistics chain across continents.
As one of the world’s longest intermodal transport projects, it streamlines the over-20,000-kilometer shipping process into a convenient model, where clients need only render one commission for the entire trip. Through Qingdao Port, COSCO SHIPPING has established a “trans-oceanic land bridge” between North America and Central Asia, strongly improving its integrated strategy of building a “hub + corridor + network” logistics system.
In January, this new transport corridor secured bookings for 134 FEUs (forty-foot equivalent units), heralding a steadily rising transport volume. (....)
