Smart Freight Centre launched its Conformity Assessment Scheme to increase trust in GHG emissions reporting in the market. Whenever a company reports its greenhouse gas emissions inventory – be it to customers, investors or other stakeholders – the comfort that an independent third-party verification provides is undeniable. Based on ISO 14083, SFC built a scheme to train, assess and approve Validation and Verification Bodies to do competent assurance engagements in the logistics sector. In 2023, SFC approved the first Validation and Verification Body for verifying GHG emission claims in accordance with ISO 14083 for freight transport: Verifavia. Over the last two years, another three VVBs have joined that first one as Approved for the ISO 14083 scope. Today, Market Based Measures are a fast-growing approach to reduce geographical, operational and commercial burdens in the reduction of GHG emissions. (....)
