A vessel carrying engineering machinery recently departed Shandong’s Rizhao Port for Algeria as part of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The delivery marks the launch of Rizhao Port's first dedicated breakbulk cargo route to North Africa. Guided by the strategy for high-quality construction of the BRI and the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, infrastructure collaboration between China and Africa has made significant progress. In 2024, Rizhao Port seized opportunities arising from African nations’ infrastructure growth by partnering with shipping companies and agents to explore new markets, attract clients and establish new shipping routes.
