The international passenger route from Shenzhen to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, was announced on March 30. It is the first passenger route at the Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport that directly connects to Central Asia, and the airport’s first new international route in 2026.
Uzbekistan Airways, a newly introduced flag carrier at Shenzhen’s airport, is responsible for arranging flights on the route. It plans to make weekly flights every Monday.
Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s capital, is a crucial Central Asian political, economic, transport and cultural center. In recent years, China and Uzbekistan have deepened cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, which has stimulated more frequent communication in the fields of trade and investment, energy and resource use, infrastructure construction and people-to-people exchanges.
The direct route will facilitate the travel of people from Shenzhen and Tashkent and promote economic and trade cooperation between the two cities, thereby serving as a “high-speed channel” to help Shenzhen enterprises go global and introduce Central Asia’s high-quality resources into China. (....)
