The Shanghai Port, operated by Shanghai International Port (Group) Co., Ltd. (SIPG), handled 5.063 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of throughput in January, setting a monthly record.
Facing a complicated global shipment market and a large amount of cargo arriving at the port, SIPG pinpointed the international trade flow and market needs, and practiced the strategy of “strengthening the function of the hub port and building an effective distribution system”.
To maximize efficiency, SIPG coordinated berths, shoreline and equipment in core port areas, optimized major route layout and schedules, and enhanced the cooperation with large shipping companies, offering a new integrated service model. It also strengthened collaboration between the entities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Yangtze River Delta Region by expanding the business scope of sea-rail transport, refining the multi-modal transport framework and providing full-process logistics tailored for high-capacity clients.
