.Munich, April 22nd, 2026 – In 2025, Flix passengers around the world avoided an estimated 1.5 million tonnes of CO₂ only by choosing coaches over driving or flying, based on modeled scenarios comparing alternative travel modes.[1] As car costs rise and airfares climb, travel by coach emerges not just as an affordable option, but also as an empowering one.
Providing anyone with affordable, practical solutions to make better choices is at the core of Flix’s vision and shapes its strategy, as it is visible in its fourth sustainability report published today.
Coach travel to and from 8,700 destinations worldwide contributed to relevant CO2 savings in 2025
More people on collective transport means fewer private cars on the road. 50 passengers in one coach can mean up to 50 fewer cars, having a material impact on the environment. Based on data[2], a person riding with FlixBus in Europe emits on average at least 5 times less CO2 per km than driving the same route. In practice, a FlixBus ride from Berlin to Rome is expected to cut CO2 emissions by 84% versus the private car, performing nearly as well as intercity rail. Compared to domestic flights on any selected route, the expected saving per person is even higher — up to 10 times less CO2 emitted per km. (....)
