Steer has acted as technical advisor to CMA CGM in its acquisition of Freightliner UK Intermodal Logistics, marking a significant step in the Group’s ambition to build a sustainable and competitive transport offering across Europe.
Steer’s advisory team provided due diligence support throughout the transaction (Phase 2 – preferred bidder stage), which will see CMA CGM expand its intermodal presence in the United Kingdom. The acquisition includes Freightliner’s rail and road operations, inland terminals, and brand portfolio, and is expected to close in early 2026 following regulatory approvals.
The deal positions CMA CGM as a key player in UK rail logistics and reinforces the Group’s commitment to accelerating decarbonisation through modal shift, reducing carbon emissions across supply chains. Freightliner will continue operating as a multi-user, multi-customer standalone business, benefiting from CMA CGM’s global logistics network and expertise. (....)
