Ditzingen, July 31, 2026 – Following the completion of modernization works, the Nuremberg-Regensburg railway line has today been fully reopened to rail traffic. From August 1, all passenger and freight services will resume normal operations. As a project partner, Hitachi Rail has made a significant contribution to the technological renewal of this heavily used section of the network.
The route forms part of the European Rhine-Danube transport corridor and is one of Bavaria’s most important rail connections, including cross-border traffic to Austria. It is also part of Deutsche Bahn’s program of more than 40 planned corridor modernizations through 2036, aimed at sustainably increasing infrastructure performance and quality. (....)
