Pressemitteilung: Talgo to Manufacture 20 New High-Speed Trains for Saudi Arabia
• The contract was awarded by the Saudi Ministries of Transportation-Logistics and Finance, through the Saudi Spanish Train Project Company (SSTPC). • This new order adds €1.3 billion to Talgo’s order book, reaching a record high with a volume near to €6 billion. • In 2018, Talgo already supplied 35 trains to Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR), which operate with complete reliability in the desert, and is responsible for their maintenance on the Haramain line. • With this new contract, Talgo will maintain a fleet of 55 units until 2033, with the possibility of extending it until 2038. Talgo, a leading company in the design, manufacture, and maintenance of high-speed lightweight rail vehicles, has been awarded the contract to manufacture and maintain 20 new high-speed trains for Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) on the rail line connecting the cities of Mecca, Medina, and Jeddah. This new order will add €1.3 billion to Talgo’s order book, bringing it to a record high of nearly €6 billion. These 20 new trains join the 35 that Talgo already supplied in 2018, which operate with complete reliability in the desert and are maintained by the company. This new award has been made by the Kingdom’s Ministries of Transportation-Logistics and Finance, and through the Spanish Consortium which is in charge of the Phase II of the “Haramain High Speed Railway” project, of which Talgo is a part.
