From August 15 to 16, 2026, the Port of Shanghai once again set a new global record in green shipping. SIPG Energy, a subsidiary of Shanghai International Port (Group) Co., Ltd. (SIPG), successfully bunkered the CMA CGM OSIRIS, a 13,000-TEU methanol dual-fuel container vessel operated by the CMA CGM Group, with a record 8,016 tons of domestically produced biomass methanol in a single operation. This not only set a new record for the largest single biomass methanol bunkering at a Chinese port, but also broke the global record of 3,643 tons set by the same team in March this year.
The achievement demonstrates the Port of Shanghai’s growing capabilities in providing integrated green-fuel bunkering services. It also shows that, through close collaboration across the industry chain, the large-scale adoption of alternative marine fuels is gradually becoming a reality.
During the bunkering operation, SIPG leveraged its strengths in integrating port resources and coordinating operations, demonstrating its professional capabilities in green-fuel bunkering services. The Hai Gang Zhi Yuan, the first methanol bunkering ship in China operated by SIPG Energy, safely and efficiently carried out the ship-to-ship bunkering at the Port of Shanghai. (....)
