With the swift issuance of 3 new UN/LOCODE entries and update of 10 existing entries across the United Arab Emirates announced today, UNECE strengthens the resilience of supply chains in the Gulf region with a view to facilitate the flow of consumer goods and other types of cargo, such as construction materials, industrial goods and critical commodities such as grain, fertilizers, etc. /
UNECE Executive Secretary Tatiana Molcean commented: “The accelerated issuance of new UN/LOCODE for United Arab Emirates logistic hubs demonstrates how UNECE’s global standards directly contribute to the UN system’s crisis-response efforts under the UN Strait of Hormuz Task Force. UN/LOCODE and the TIR Convention are global public goods fostering the stability of global commerce and international supply chains. They are supporting Member States’ resilience, helping them ensure that essential transport and logistics operations can continue despite the geopolitical tensions and disruptions affecting the Strait of Hormuz and the wider region.”
The new and updated UN/LOCODE entries include key inland logistics hubs such as Al Fayah, Al Sajaa, Al Ain, and strategic Abu Dhabi logistics corridors, related to rail terminals, dry ports, inland logistics hubs, and industrial storage and consolidation facilities. (....)
