A beautiful landscape, a historic town or a unique visitor attraction does not automatically attract coach groups. What does? We asked Anna Grönlund, Deputy Managing Director of the Swedish Bus and Coach Federation (Sveriges Bussföretag) and Vice President of IRU.Accessibility often determines whether a destination becomes part of an itinerary or remains off the route. That is the focus of the work carried out by IRU member Sveriges Bussföretag, which has been helping destinations better understand the needs of coach tour operators and adapt their offer accordingly. Many of Sweden's best-known visitor attractions lie outside the country's largest cities. Nature destinations, cultural sites and local attractions are often located in rural areas where rail services are limited and public transport options are scarce. For many visitors, travelling by car is the only practical choice. (....)
