Det Norske Veritas group: DNV renews MoU with Singapore Institute of Technology to accelerate maritime innovation and talent development (28.08.2025)
DNV has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) continuing their collaboration in maritime education, applied research, and innovation. The updated agreement builds on a 2022 framework, with an expanded focus on decarbonization, digitalization, and talent development to support Singapore’s maritime ambitions.
Under the MoU, DNV will contribute domain expertise in maritime decarbonization and digitalization to support SIT’s Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Joint Degree Programme, and work with SIT to co-develop postgraduate programmes that align with industry needs.
SIT will leverage DNV’s open simulation platform, the Simulation Trust Centre (STC), to support applied research and education in optimizing ship and system design for energy management, operational efficiency, and autonomous operations.

Det Norske Veritas group: DNV revises maritime simulator standard to support safer and more adaptable training (28.08.2025)
DNV has released a revision of its Maritime Simulator Systems Standard (DNV-ST-0033), reflecting the growing diversity of simulation technologies used in maritime training and certification.
As vessel systems become more complex and alternative fuels gain traction, simulation is playing an increasingly central role in preparing seafarers and maritime professionals for operational realities. The revised standard responds to these developments by refining class definitions and expanding simulation requirements to support more adaptable and environmentally responsible training practices.
Geir Dugstad, SVP, Director of Ship Classification & Technical Director at DNV, said: “The wellbeing of seafarers is critical in sustaining resilient and effective vessel operations in a rapidly transforming industry. High-quality and realistic simulation training plays a vital role in preparing crews for the real-world challenges they will face.
