eurostat: EU oil imports value up by 56%, volume stable in Q2 2026 (22 September 2026)
In the second quarter of 2026, the value of the EU’s petroleum oil imports rose sharply, by 55.8%, however their volume remained mostly stable compared with the monthly average in 2025, at 36.7 million tonnes (+1.2%).
Regarding liquefied natural gas, import value rose by 4.1% and import volume fell by 5.6%.
In the same period, imports of natural gas in gaseous form rose in both value (+18.5%) and volume (+3.4%).

eurostat: Evolution of fuel prices in August 2026 (22 September 2026)
In August 2026, the price of fuels and lubricants for personal transport in the EU increased by 23.8% compared with August 2025. This followed year-on-year increases of 13.7% in June and 16.9% in July.
In 26 of the 27 EU countries, fuels and lubricants prices were higher in August 2026, compared with August 2025. August annual increases were higher than those in July 2026 in 26 EU countries and higher than in June in 24 countries.
In August 2026, compared with August 2025, 18 EU countries recorded price increases higher than 20%. The highest increases were recorded in Bulgaria (+34.5%), Lithuania (+28.8%), Finland (+27.6%), Germany (+27.5%) and France (+27.4%). The lowest price increases were recorded in Hungary (+1.3%), Sweden (+6.1%) and Ireland (+11.7%).
