International Assosiation of Ports and Harbors IAPH: #IAPH2026 Sustainability Awards – submit your entries! (May 15, 2026)
IAPH members are encouraged to submit their entries for the #IAPH2026 Sustainability Awards competition, as there are less than four weeks remaining until the submission deadline. Member ports – and associate members acting on their behalf – should submit their sustainability projects using the World Ports Sustainability Program (WPSP) dedicated online form by 10 June. You can submit your project here. Projects will then be evaluated and scored by an independent jury against the evaluation criteria and will be highlighted on IAPH’s social media channels and on the WPSP website. Finalists in the six categories will be announced in August and the public will vote for their favourites online on the WPSP website. The most inspiring projects in each of the six Awards categories will be showcased during a prestigious dedicated ceremony to take place at the gala dinner of the #IAPH2026 World Ports Conference at the Natural History Museum in London on 4 November. Members will find all information related to the 2026 Awards in this year’s terms of reference. L.I.T. AG: L.I.T. AG ERHÄLT ERNEUT IHK-SIEGEL »TOP AUSBILDUNG 2026« (11.05.2026)
Die L.I.T. AG ist erneut für ihre herausragende Ausbildungsqualität mit dem Siegel »TOP Ausbildung 2026« ausgezeichnet worden. Die Zertifizierung wurde von der Oldenburgischen Industrie- und Handelskammer (IHK) vergeben und bestätigt die hohe Qualität sowie die systematische Weiterentwicklung der Ausbildung innerhalb der L.I.T. Gruppe.
Im Rahmen eines ganztägigen Audits vor Ort wurde die Ausbildung bei L.I.T. umfassend geprüft. Neben der Präsentation der Ausbildungsstrukturen erhielten die Auditoren Einblicke in zentrale Prozesse und digitale Tools. European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO): Renewed PERS certification for the Port of Baku (12 May 2026)
ESPO congratulates the Port Authority of Baku (Azerbaijan) on achieving recertification under the EcoPorts environmental management standard (PERS). As a member of EcoPorts since 2018 and has been awarded the PERS certificate for the fourth time.
Isabelle Ryckbost, ESPO Secretary General, commented: “Congratulations to the Port of Baku with its efforts and ambitions as regards Environmental sustainability and performance, as demonstrated through this PERS recertification, which reflects its ongoing commitment to responsible port management”.

ESPO congratulates the Port of Algeciras (Spain) on achieving recertification under the EcoPorts environmental management standard (PERS). The Port of Dover has been an EcoPorts member since 2015 and is now been awarded the PERS certificate for the sixth time.
Isabelle Ryckbost, ESPO Secretary General, stated: “The Port of Algeciaras has a continuous commitment to engage into sustainability as is proven by this sixth recertification. Sustainability is really a common thread throughout their operations. Moreover, the port has an excellent track record as regards operational efficiency, looking at the time vessels spend in the port, which as well delivers in terms of emission and nuisance reductions. I wish to congratulate the port and port stakeholders for their efforts. Congratulations!”

Nahverkehrsgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg mbH: Eisenbahner mit Herz 2026: Gold für Zugbegleiter aus Baden Württemberg (15.05.2026)
Ronald Phillip Tolkiehn von Arverio Baden Württemberg erhält Gold und Publikumspreis für außergewöhnliches Engagement.
Engagierte Eisenbahner:innen tragen wesentlich zu Verlässlichkeit, Sicherheit und Akzeptanz des Schienenverkehrs bei. Beim Wettbewerb „Eisenbahner mit Herz 2026“ hat die Allianz pro Schiene daher erneut Bahnbeschäftigte für ihren besonderen Einsatz ausgezeichnet. Mehr als 300 Fahrgäste hatten bundesweit Mitarbeitende nominiert. Eine Fachjury vergab die Preise in Gold, Silber und Bronze sowie einen Sonderpreis; zusätzlich bestimmten Reisende ihren Publikumsliebling. Die Ehrung fand bei einer feierlichen Gala Mitte April in Potsdam statt.
