VCÖ (Wien, 27. Mai 2026) - In Österreich besitzen laut Statistik Austria 63 Prozent aller Haushalte zumindest ein funktionstüchtiges Fahrrad. Zwischen den Bundesländern gibt es bei den Fahrrad-Haushalten einige Unterschiede, macht die Mobilitätsorganisation VCÖ aufmerksam. In Oberösterreich und Salzburg ist der Anteil der Fahrrad-Haushalte mit 71 Prozent am höchsten, in Wien mit 52 Prozent am niedrigsten. Wien ist aber das einzige Bundesland, wo es mehr Rad-Haushalte als Auto-Haushalte gibt. Beim VCÖ-Mobilitätspreis Österreich sind Projekte gesucht, die es der Bevölkerung erleichtern, das Fahrrad häufiger als Verkehrsmittel nutzen zu können.

Port of Long Beach: Million-Dollar Award Awaits Winner in Clean Fuel Race for Ships (May 27, 2026)
Challenge created for first vessel to refuel with methanol at the Port of Long Beach
The Port of Long Beach established an unprecedented $1 million award for the first oceangoing vessel to refill at its harbor with methanol on a commercial scale in an effort to jumpstart the industry’s transition to cleaner, lower-carbon fuels like methanol.
Approved Monday by the Long Beach Harbor Commission, the Clean Fuel Bunkering Challenge is expected to send a strong signal to the global market of the interest in expanding the availability of clean marine fuels. Details on the challenge rules will be posted at www.polb.com.

International Assosiation of Ports and Harbors iaph: #IAPH2026 Sustainability Awards: deadline approaching (May 29, 2026)
The submission deadline for the #IAPH2026 Sustainability Awards competition is approaching fast! Member ports – and associate members acting on their behalf – should submit their sustainability projects using the World Ports Sustainability Program (WPSP) dedicated online form by 10 June. You can submit your project here. Projects will then be evaluated and scored by an independent jury against the evaluation criteria and will be highlighted on IAPH’s social media channels and on the WPSP website. Finalists in the six categories will be announced in August and the public will vote for their favourites online on the WPSP website. The most inspiring projects in each of the six Awards categories will be showcased during a prestigious dedicated ceremony to take place at the gala dinner of the #IAPH2026 World Ports Conference at the Natural History Museum in London on 4 November. Members will find all information related to the 2026 Awards in this year’s terms of reference. European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO): The Port of Klaipėda and the Port of Rotterdam renew their PERS certification at ESPO Conference in Gdansk (26 May 2026)
ESPO also congratulates the Port of Klaipėda (Lithuania) and the Port of Rotterdam (the Netherlands) in their PERS certification renewal. The Port of Klaipeda joined the EcoPorts network in 2013 and has now been awarded the PERS certificate for the third consecutive time, and the Port of Rotterdam is a long-standing member of EcoPorts since 2003 and is now been awarded the PERS certificate for the sixth consecutive time.
