Hitachi Rail Limited: New Limited Express Train Series N100 “SPACIA X” Wins the “Red Dot Award: Product Design 2025” (8 July 2025)
Tobu Railway Co., Ltd. (Tobu Railway) and Hitachi Rail's jointly developed, limited express train, the Series N100 “SPACIA X,” has been awarded the prestigious “Red Dot Award: Product Design 2025,” organized by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany.
SPACIA X, which began operation on July 15, 2023, connects Asakusa with the Nikko and Kinugawa areas. Developed under the concept of “Connect & Updatable,” the train inherits the legacy and brand identity of the conventional Series 100 SPACIA, while aiming to evolve into a more refined flagship limited express train.

International Maritime Organization (IMO): Legal expert Rosalie Balkin to receive International Maritime Prize (10 July 2025)
Dr. Rosalie Balkin is recognized for her outstanding contributions to international maritime law over a career spanning more than 50 years.
Dr. Rosalie Balkin, Secretary-General of the Comité Maritime International (CMI) and former Director of Legal Affairs and External Relations Division at the International Maritime Organization (IMO), has been named the recipient of the International Maritime Prize for 2024.  The decision was announced today by the IMO Council during its 134th session (7-11 July).

European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO): SIX PORTS COMPETE FOR ESPO AWARD 2025 REWARDING A PORT’S STRATEGY THAT AIMS AT A BETTER GENDER BALANCE IN THE PORT (10 July 2025)
The ESPO secretariat received six submissions for the 17th edition of the ESPO Award.
Aligned with this year’s theme, “Ports that have developed innovative policies and/or strategies to successfully attract more women to work in ports,” the ESPO Award 2025 will be handed over given to the port managing body that actively promotes a supportive and inclusive work environment for female professionals, thereby advancing gender balance. ESPO members could send their applications until Friday 4 July.
