EIT Urban Mobility: EIT Urban Mobility highlights bike-sharing and active mobility ahead of European mobility week 2025 (16 September 2025)
EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the EU, will actively participate in European Mobility Week 2025, organised by the European Commission. This year’s theme, “Mobility for Everyone,” emphasises ensuring that sustainable transport is accessible to all, regardless of income, location, gender, or abilities. Many Europeans face challenges such as high costs or limited transport options, a situation known as transport poverty, which restricts access to jobs, education, and essential services.
In 2025, European Mobility Week calls for envisioning a society where public transport, walking, and cycling are safe, inclusive, and affordable options for everyone.

Today marks the beginning of the European Mobility Week, the European Commission’s flagship awareness-raising campaign on the sustainable urban mobility. Over 1518 towns and cities across Europe are participating in this year’s campaign, including car-free days in cities such as Brussels and Paris.
This year’s theme for the Mobility Week is “Mobility for Everyone”, underlining that while public transport is essential for our everyday lives, many people face barriers to getting around due to high costs, poor connectivity, or a lack of accessibility.
